The independent living philosophy maintains that disabled people are citizens first and foremost, and only secondarily consumers of health care, rehabilitation or social services. The assessment of the participants' needs and delivery of those services by providers must provide tenants the opportunity to control the outcomes of their care program to become as independent as possible and establish their freedoms within the community.
RMS's service offerings for independent living providers are designed to measure the effectiveness of the housing space and environmental controls currently in place to assist the tenant in reaching his or her goals. RMS offers:
- Risk assessments with recommendations and action plan assistance
- Education of facility staff in current standards of care and methods to minimize risk
- Adverse event management (quick response)
- Review of records for claims and litigation
- Customized consulting
